Have many firsts so don’t know where to begin!!
My first day as a new mom was a novel experience. With the first born, had a cesarean delivery after a prolonged induced labor for a big baby, with poor results- in hind sight should just have had an elective section! The cesarean experience was a bad one with the anesthesia becoming light during the surgery and my full awareness of the steps of the procedure and also hearing the voices of the doctors and staff involved.! Apparently my BP had shot up to very high levels and had to be dealt with.
Yet, lo behold, the sight of my lovely baby boy was so amazing that all was forgotten and the feelings of complete joy and feeling of an achievement was there!. It was a god gifted moment of complete happiness and fear of the unknown now- how would it all be! Thankfully my mother was with me who taught me how to care for the baby and how to stay organized and what to do- amazing lady who took charge and did not allow anything adverse to happen to either of us- I am eternally grateful!
Also developed a breast engorgement and she stood by me and explained that now having suffered pain , i would be a better and more compassionate doctor to my patients.
