Humans are incredible creatures with great ability for adaptation. There are still situations or settings that make them uncomfortable and prone to anger. frustration and complaints.
My first pet peeve is Traffic and traffic jams.
Having had to travel to work in busy cities and even busier hospitals, through traffic jams and disorderly traffic on bad roads, for several years, it made me dislike getting out on the roads. The fatigue that follows due to the noise and pollution on the roads is nerve racking for anyone.
My second peeve is the inhuman working conditions in certain government hospitals.
The government run hospitals in many places are run down, dirty, due to overcrowding, disorderliness and chaos. The humans co-exist with dogs and cats in some places and their excreta are often present in places where it should not be present. Shortage of funds or misuse of funds and resources lead to these. The job for the cleaners and paramedical staff is very laborious as the constant stream of peoples footfalls make the place dirty over and over again. The need for cleanliness is essential for patients to get well soon without getting hospital infections due to poor hygiene.
Third pet peeve is the heat and dust and lack of good electrical supply in places where total cleanliness is mandatory.
For most people a sense of purpose and happiness comes from working in clean surroundings that are free from heat and heat related problems like exhaustion, sweating, electrolyte imbalance and even fainting. It does not require much to achieve this as it is not a matter of unavailability, but more that of an attitude. People after complaining for some time, get used to the poor conditions and stop bothering about it. This is a form of adaptation that is bad for all concerned.
